Blogging Anonymously pro and cons

I found today on the web a great blog about anonymous blogging, Treacle points out  3 ways of doing it:

1. Full-on anonymity

2. Semi-anonymity

3. “Secret identity” anonymity

Apparently some bloggers will use many advanced tricks  to be untraceable, using Tor is one of them. Tor is  is free software and an open network that enable internet anonymity. You can download it here: http://www.torproject.org/

Top reasons for blogging without revealing your own name:

1. Privacy & Safety- separation between your blogging life and your personal/professional life

2. Honesty-Anonymous blogging allows some people to be more than honest

3. Personality & Character—Writing under a different name allows you to express different aspects of your personality

I like especially the last reason. When you choose to blog without revealing your real life identity, finding a smart nickname is the important part of your blog branding.

You can read the great article Anonymous Blogging 101: a Quick and Dirty Primer here

As much as I understand these reasons I think anonymous blogging is a missing opportunity for building your own personal brand. Your personal brand is the best gift you can give yourself, it will help you to get a better job, well paid projects or a date your were dreaming of. Choose wisely.
